When I first stumbled upon Povio Academy online, I was intrigued. I sent in my application, half-expecting it to get lost in the shuffle. But to my surprise, things started rolling pretty quickly!
The Application and Onboarding
The application process was straightforward. After filling out the online form and sending my resume, I received an email for a video chat. It was a relaxed conversation, where they genuinely wanted to understand my interests and aspirations.
Shortly after the video call, I was informed that I had progressed to the next stage: a technical exam. This was conducted live at their office. When I arrived, I was taken aback by how many students had shown up. There were over 40 of us! The atmosphere felt reminiscent of a university exam, with a mix of nervousness and excitement palpable in the air.
The team at Povio made us feel at ease with a warm welcome and clear instructions. The organization of the exam was professional and well thought out. They ensured everyone had the same conditions, even providing water and a comfortable environment to work in. It was a rigorous yet fair process, and I left feeling both challenged and hopeful.
About a week later, the results came in. To my delight, I was among the 12 candidates selected to join the academy! It was an incredible feeling to know I had made it through such a competitive process.
Starting the Academy: Hands-On Workshops
The academy kicked off with hands-on workshops that lasted five weeks. We had lectures twice a week in the afternoons, each session lasting 2-3 hours. The schedule was perfect for balancing other commitments like university classes and, of course, student parties—none of which had to be sacrificed!
The workshops were a mix of practical exercises and theoretical learning, all designed to simulate real-world scenarios. The mentors played a huge role in making the experience enriching. They were not just instructors but guides who shared their personal experiences, offering invaluable insights into the tech industry. They encouraged us to ask questions, experiment, and learn through collaboration.
The group of students was diverse, and it didn’t take long for us to bond. Brainstorming sessions and collaborative projects brought us closer, and by the end of the five weeks, I had made some great friends.
Graduation and Celebration
After completing the workshop, everyone received a certificate to mark their achievement. The academy hosted a celebratory dinner, bringing us all together one last time to reflect on our journey and accomplishments. It was a joyful evening filled with laughter and shared memories.
